OMN – a part of rebooting the openweb
How we organise, currently we have two flows of projects:
Fluffy Founded on #4opens and moderated by an ethical code of conduct. Its a safe space for Campaigning and NGO groups to access their members on the #openweb
Spiky Founded on #4opens, motivated by the PGA hallmarks and moderated by the ethical code of conduct. Its an unfettered space for Activists and groups to communicate on the #openweb
For both the decision making is #4opens based with passive consensus thus for core members to make small decision the can just do it and post in the process flow. For decisions which affect the organising group these should be announced in the public process with time for people to engaged in discussion if no core crew directly BLOCKS it can be implemented. A decision is only as valid as far as it has spread, thus if nobody has the chance to see it or debate it is not a valid decision.
Who are core crew is a slightly more slippery process, for now you will know when you are one.
Currently we are using github projects https://github.com/Openmedianetwork as #4open organising spaces. Please create a account and star and follow the projects you are interested in or wont to be a active part of.
The projects are based on a core/periphery on the organizing and core mission. The path to being involved is to work in the periphery for a time before being excepted into the core of the project. All the projects are based on the #4opens so the organizing process is public and everyone can have a say, though core decision making can be reserved for the core group if/as needed. How to move from the periphery to the core is a slippery thing.
Core mission is “social change”, the peripheral mission is “social work” so a balance of the too are important.
