Our #OGB project aims to address challenges that currently exist within grassroots organizations by creating a tool set for 'Do It Yourself' (DIY) governance rooted by a 'Keep It Simple Stupid' (KISS) standard framework. Human organization and governance are inherently complex and messy. Standard approaches tend to enforce rigid structures - forcing messy processes to be, 'cleaner', 'neater' and 'tidier' - through such forced behaviour, inevitably failing. Problems identified with past projects draw on experience gained through the five years involvement with #Mastodon instances and the larger #Fediverse. The #OGB aims to decentralize democratic systems for grassroots governance, free to all with a focus on producers and consumers. This project does not seek to create a single organization dictating protocols or standards. Rather a vision to enable organic creation of synthesis, where competing arguments are broached to formulate corrective procedures and proposals for implementation. The #OGB project emphasizes voluntary collaboration by prioritizing sortition and 'messy consensus' in achieving decision-making and a more equitable power distribution for all. Experience : Amount : € 25000 Use : The initial funding will be distributed for the renewal and upgrade of our current ICT contracts to establish 5 to 10 years longevity and development security for instances. With a three tier development process. Tier 1 - Online development for embedded instances. Tier 2 - Offline app development with utilization of QR codes for distribution within small community governance, flee market, classrooms e.t.c Tier 3 - Online and offline technological training/education.
Comparison : As per last years encouraging conversations regarding the #OGB we are continuing our efforts in all avenues to achieve success. With a goal of outreaching to as many communities both online and offline, we aim to bring a greater technological competence to everyone. Challenges : As we have found through experiences and conversations both online and offline, technological competence/incompetence is something equally present globally and continues. Through outreach be it face to face or online workshops we are seeking to create an organic space that grows with its community accessible for all.
