User Story #makeinghistory
The Campbell Family archive is digitizing all their images and paper as CC licence digital files, this is boxes of original papers works from hundreds of campaigns and actions and thousands of images of protest banners and political events.
-
The archive set up a desktop computer or a hosted VPS instance to install the #dat based p2p application for "makeinghistory"
-
They then use the application to create an account and start to upload the directories of digital files, adding basic metadata if they have the time and motivation.
-
They build a community of people (word of mouth) from the family and wider activist groups to seed an affinity group and ask them to install the application on their phones and tablets.
-
The installation comes with the account "Campbell archive" all ready installed, when they add the application they get a number of columns - new - recent - then any columns added by other users working on these accounts. These columns are simple hashtagged bulion lists of the data in the account.
-
Each comes will have the item/image and any added data and metadata - the is edit buttons, the user can add to any of this data then swipe to the next item from any of the columns.
-
By editing the hashtags and data, the item will move into a category column and into the recent columns.
-
instead of endlessly scrolling Instagram algorithm, they will instead be scrolling family memory and actively shifting them into catorgoys (bulion hashtags) , as other people add text and hashtag metadata this will update other user feeds to get them to come back to see the content agen and add their own views and information.
-
We have archived catorgaise metadata enriched data flows, these are then turned into actual history using the story feature which gives overview (linking) over multabe items and catorgorys.
-
this history can be pushed out to the wider world, we have grassroots quality history as well as the traditional top-down #mainstreaming mess making history.
-
people use thses stories to build real and lasting social change and challenge - history matters.
