UK #indymedia near death was ripped into two by internal social forces https://archive.indymedia.org.uk/ these two victorious blood spattered parts promptly expired. The battle of open/closed had no GOOD OUTCOME need to remember this simple truth for the reboot.
The idea is to keep it simple to push the control balance from the geek to the users. To use existing tools to build a open network then let the users decide how to use it. This is the “news” part of indymedia the privacy focused actavist part is needed as well. In the end its human moderated flows and actually technologicaly neutral, anything can be hub/peer on the network.

What can you do to help OMN indymedia reboot
* teach people the #4opens and review tools/projects.
* this reboot is not about tech - all code is idolagy - the #OMN its a social solution to a social problem
* It easy to keep crossing wires with "media" vs. personal. Media should be open, with clear sources, except when protecting them. Whereas personal data should default to private
* on the dev/organising site you can help by asking simple basic questions
