Admins can change the theme, which defines the overall layout, icons, color scheme and default banner.

Users can change their banner image, avatar and profile background - same as in other ActivityPub servers. So they can customize the look of their timeline to some extent.

OK makes sense, though for a news site its kinda confuseing maybe?

I suppose 'users' in the context of a news instance, would be members (all should likely also be moderators) of the IMC, correct?

In which case, customisable images should not be an issue ?

If someone from the outside viewed the posts directly via the profile of a specific IMC member, would they see all the customisations?
This would be potentially confusing.

News Site - the hierarchy of power

  • sysadmin - should have no day to day power.
  • admin - Have totale power but do not use it.
  • moderators/ - have lots of power based on trust.
  • producers/editorial - have power.
  • readers - can become one of the above to have power.
  • trolls/scammers - should be blocked by a lack of trust.

Thinking out loud, what do you think?

Sounds sensible. I've no issues with that "hierarchy" for now.
But @hamishcampbell this should probably be it's own issue - or wiki page.
