UP FOR DISCUSHERN
On the news reboot we need to think who we link to and who we abuse this linking.
The main #dotcons we should use anonymisers and emend rather than directly link to them as much as works with good #UX
what do you think
- link direct to first hand new reports. Then make a judgment on the rest.
- for example #failbook - do not link to
- YouTube embed (with anonymizing if possible)
- #traditionalmedia, post as much as possible with a link to the rest after
Linking is the currency of the web. Is this helpfull or just one policey for all?
Looking at min server UX options as useing a porxy we would need too big a server, for example the proxying of images on our search engin is killing that expirence and needs to be turned off by diffult. https://www.maketecheasier.com/embed-youtube-videos-privacy-enhanced-mode/
The problem we face is that everyone is on failbook so ideas for bridging out of that.
Is the a way of ripping the content out of failbook with min linking back, evern if this bracks T&C its likly not a huge issue?
The RSS come in as everything on the feed with a clear link (with fallow) back to read more/source.
activertypub works out of the box.
Tredtional media comes in with everything we can get with a link (no tracking) back to the source.
Something like this https://open.spotify.com/episode/23CL31phpXkRn9RTjhc3vt?si=VhR8-4z3QM-fsGEZQ4Wrzg and itunes podcasts - we need to drop all the tracking code and grab the text and direct link to the MP3 file were possable. No link back to the #dotcons were possable.
What do you guys think?
Use and abouse the #dotcons were we need to as the huge majoraty of good content woill be traped inside them for the forceable future.
Should be do-able for certain "services".
Facebook actively hurts people's ability to do such things so I expect trouble from them at least.
